Winter in the Val Gardena

No matter if you are interested in downhill or cross-country skiing, in ski tours, snowshoeing or in rides on the sledge or simply in taking a walk through the enchanting winter landscape – or perhaps you would like to try out a bit of everything… –, the entrance to the famous Sella Ronda Ski Area as well as the perfectly prepared panoramic cross-country circuits and hiking trails of the Alpe di Siusi are at a few minutes by car from our house. If you prefer not to use your car during your holidays, you can take the ski bus which passes every 30 minutes and which takes you right through the valley – and back home.

The Sella Ronda Ski Area with its breathtaking view on the Dolomites comprises about 500 km of slopes and with a single ski pass you can use all the lifts.

The DOLOMITES – UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site
Once you have seen this part of the Alps, your concept of “mountain” will gain a completely different dimension. The UNESCO maintains a worldwide list of protected natural paradises and cultural treasures which are considered to be of particular value to future generations. On June 2009 the Dolomites are amongst the 50 most beautiful landscapes of Europe and amongst the 199 most beautiful in the world. Thus the Dolomites, with their famous peaks, take their rightful place among the most beautiful mountains in the world.

Snowshoeing means living nature in its purest form. It is the way you draw the first traces in the virgin snow. Snowshoeing is becoming more and more popular in the Alps as well as in low mountain ranges. Snowshoeing is something for everybody, young and old, athletes or not. No previous knowledge is necessary. Give it a try, you will love it!
